Ridgeway’s support of a local job drive ’50 jobs in 50 days’ was documented in local papers recently as the Duke of York expressed his “delight” at the campaign organised by the Belfast Telegraph. Dr Stephen Farry, Employment Minister said that employment schemes like apprenticeships played a key role in helping to rebuild the economy.
The campaign has continued to gain momentum now securing 22 placements for future apprentices. Ridgeway have created a second position for this scheme after receiving such a positive outcome from the recruitment of their first apprentice.
Neill Killen, General Manager was quoted in the Belfast Telegraph saying that he was so impressed with an engineering student on placement from Belfast’s Metropolitan collage, they have awarded him a full-time apprentice position. 20 year old Daryl Letman is the young man who has paved the way for future apprentices at Ridgeway. Daryl initially started on a two week placement at Ridgeway when his eagerness to learn was noticed by management.
