Safetread

Safe Tread

Safetread diamond pattern flooring is constructed using a series of flat load bearing bars held upright by corrugated bars.  The load bearing bars and corrugated bars are spot welded together at each intersection point making safetread diamond pattern flooring universally accepted as one of the strongest and most economical open steel gratings.

Corrugated bars not only contribute to the load bearing capabilities of the grating but also provide the grating with increased lateral restraint making it one of the most popular steel grating solutions offered by our suppliers Lionweld Kennedy.  This is why Safetread has been installed in the largest of power stations, steelworks, chemical plants and distilleries and a host of other industrial and civil undertakings where strength, cleanliness, light and ventilation are essential factors.

Chemical plants
Off shore applications
Power stations
Waste energy plants

Particularly suitable to the above applications due to its strength to weight ratio

Loading Criteria

BS4592-0:2006 gives minimum design loads for platform and walkways as per the below table.

USE OF PLATFORM OR WALKWAY UDL   CONCENTRATED LOAD OVER AN AREA OF 300MM x 300MM
Light Duty (1 person) 3.0 kN/m2 1.0 kN
General (regular two way pedestrian traffic) 5.0 kN/m2 1.0 kN
Heavy duty (high density pedestrian traffic) 7.5 kN/m2 1.0 kN

Lionweld Kennedy have devised a set of load tables to give a quick reference guide to the maximum allowable clear span for each of our grating types.  Simply click on the required load table on the side bar of the main Flowforge page to access our loading information.

How to order

  1. Select the loading requirments from the above table.
  2. Determine your maximum clear span (open area between supports) and using our load tables select the required load bearing bar size.
  3. Choose your surface type and finish
